Frequently Asked Questions

Do you bill my insurance?

Unlike most dental sleep medicine practices, the fees for our cash-pay model (or credit card) fall below most patients deductible + copay making insurance a non-issue. We do not bill your insurance, but you may discuss reimbursement with your insurance company.

What is the difference between a Snore MAD vs. Sleep Apnea MAD.

With sleep apnea, we actively open the airway, with snoring we start by simply not letting the jaw fall backward during sleep. Sleep Apnea devices are also more robust, and include at-home sleep test(s) post insertion to evaluate efficacy, and communication with your diagnosing physician.

Are there side effects to MAD’s?

Most patients do acclimate well, however some patients can experience changes to their bite. Most bite issues can be mitigated and monitored by closely following a daily protocol we will teach you. Bite changes come on slowly for most patients, so monitoring your bite daily offers the opportunity to discontinue treatment if you are experiencing side effects.

What are my options for treating Sleep Apnea?

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), and Hypoglossal surgery (Inspire) are the most common treatments for sleep apnea.

I have a CPAP, should I switch to a MAD?

Do not switch if you are compliant with your CPAP. CPAP is the gold standard. MAD’s are for snorers and those who can’t or won’t wear their CPAP consistently.
