Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a sleep study to get a device?
Take our OSA Quiz to assess your risk. Low-risk patients may qualify for a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), while we coordinate with your doctor. High-risk patients will require a sleep study, which can be conducted by our sleep physician or your own. You owe it to yourself to follow established, evidence-based guidelines.
Do you bill my insurance?
Unlike most dental sleep medicine practices, the fees for our cash-pay model (or credit card) fall below most patients deductible + copay making insurance a non-issue. If you have a sleep apnea diagnosis from our physician or yours, and you would like to use your insurance send us your information and we’ll go to work.
What is the difference between a Snore MAD vs. Sleep Apnea MAD.
With sleep apnea, we actively open the airway, with snoring we start by simply not letting the jaw fall backward during sleep. Sleep Apnea devices are also more robust, and include at-home sleep test(s) post insertion.
Are there side effects to MAD’s?
Most patients do acclimate amazingly well. Rarely patients can experience changes to their bite, but most bite issues can be mitigated and monitored by closely following a daily protocol we will teach you.
What are my options?
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), and Hypoglossal surgery (Inspire) are the most common treatments for sleep apnea.
What kind of medical professionals will I be working with?
MAD’s can only be made by dentists. Sleep apnea can only be diagnosed by a physician. We offer both services, bridging the gap between medical and dental.
I have a CPAP, should I switch to a MAD?
Do not switch if you are compliant with your CPAP. CPAP is the gold standard. MAD’s are for snorers and those who can’t or won’t wear their CPAP consistently.
Do you accept HSA and Flex Spending?
Yes, we accept both Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending.
Do you have other locations?
Our main office is in South Jordan, but we will come to you anywhere along the Wasatch Front, Tooele, and Park City.
What is included in the device fee?
Our device fees include office visits, dental scan, mandibular advancement device, follow-up, physician communication and titration for sleep apnea devices.
How do I know if I need a Snore or Sleep Apnea device?
Our OSA Quiz will help us know if you should be tested. Communication with your doctor throughout the process is critical even if you just snore.
